Interview with Coolvader

For those of you familiar with the custom toy scene, you should probably know Coolvader.  He stepped into the game as a painting powerhouse.  One of the most impressive things about Coolvader is that he survives as an artist.  Living out of Brooklyn, NY, he manages to paint enough toys to have a steadily fluctuating income.

You can have Coolvader make YOU a custom too!  Just send your requests to info@deliciousdrips.com

We took some time out of his busy schedule to get a little background on Coolvader.

1.)How do you explain vinyl toys to peopple?

When my family asks, “What do you do?”   i tell them that i paint
toys. From that point, you either get it, or you don’t.
2.) What was the first piece that you ever did?

A dunny donated by Boxguts got me started painting toys, and it
turned out great.

3.) Top 3 supplies: paint, gloss, brushes.
4.) I work in my loft apartment, usually on the couch at coffee table.

5.)  What kind of feeling do you try to evoke from your artwork?

Sometimes i try to get fellings, other times i just let the art
dictate where it goes.
