Rsin Smokes Round 4 of DD iD Contest

We’ve seen a lot of amazing MadL pieces, especially after hosting MeMadL.  Nevertheless, Rsin’s custom MadL truely inspired us.  The piece incorporated precision sculpting, well rendered painting, and ultimately an extremely unique idea.  The workings of the taking a red haired lady and superimposing her onto a ultra industrial style provided one of the most tantalizing juxtapositions we’ve seen thus far.

Here’s some info provided by Rsin about his piece.

Title Robots Don’t Cry
Description: This is a 10″ madL made for the current Multiple Personality show at LiFt in Detroit.   This is the first madL I have done, I have the idea of doing a girl in a robot.  I started out with the idea of her wearing this helmet with a glass face shield.  I had this awesome jet pack from a munny mobile, and I wanted to create some wings out of wood.  I sculpted it all out, cut the wings in wood, and made the glass face shield (which ended up melting from the heat gun, whoops!)  I painted it all with some metallic paint, and used some decals I made in Photoshop to add some detail.   Covered it with a few coats of high gloss varnish.
Her name or number is 823.  She has no story, it has yet to be written.  She was created in the 610, and is now living in the 248. She hopes to one day travel the world and become friend with many different owners.
Tactic: Started out sculpting the basic design, then glued on the wooden wings, and the jet pack.  Then used different sand paper to smooth out the sculpey.   I then brushed it black base coat.  Then added layers of metallic paint and added some fades with black.  Then applied my decals, and brushed the body with a gloss varnish.  The face was left blank until now, I brushed a flesh base, and applied the different layers on top of that.  I brushed that with a matte varnish.  I then attached the dreads to the back of the head with some glue.

Sales Info: Piece is currently for sale at http://lift.ecrater.com/ price is higher cause of commission.  It will be for sale by myself after the show and will be a little cheaper.
We’d also like to give an honorable mention to NastyNeil who came out with a stellar Munny design entitled Radio Killed the Toy Star.  This piece came in second place in the voting.  He will receive a $15 gift certificate to DD for his efforts.

Brian Colin had ANOTHER podium finish with his Shaman of the Vulterites entry.  We got the chance to see this entry along with the matching painting at the setup for Into the Darkeness at 1AM gallery.  This piece WEIGHS about 20 pounds with all the magic sculpt on there!
