Last day for SkullyBoom SB1 Pre-Orders Feb 28th
February 28th marks the last day for the pre-order special. As we get closer an closer to the anticipated release date (April 1st), things are getting very exciting. That said, up until this Sunday, you can order an SB1 for $29.99
To us, the project has meant so much more than just another product/design to throw on the market. When you take something from the world of custom toys and expose it to the mainstream in a package that so many more people can understand and appreciate (i.e. speaker, ipod dock), we feel that we can evoke a little bit of artistry in every one. So many times we’ve got the question, “Where did you get that idea?”. Every time we follow it up with the answer, “From customizing vinyl toys.”
Some have criticized us in saying that they want to keep the whole vinyl toy niche small and intimate. In response to that, we feel that custom toy artists are just NOT getting the attention they deserve. To the average art connoisseur, you could present them with a canvas and value it at $10,000. Project this same imagery onto a toy, and the same person may not even be able to put a price on it. It’s not so much that one piece of work is worth more than the other, but its for lack of understanding of the origins and roots of custom toy culture that have created a discrepancy in the true artistic values.
On a final note, what we hope to do is inspire people’s creativity. Yes, we want more artists in this community, and we feel that a stronger community of artists will only help to strengthen the careers of those that have worked hard at the game from the start.
